New incoming emails are no longer marked as "unread" and In bold print when they arrive. I have to manually mark them as unread. Then when I read them, they do not consistently change to "read". This was not a problem until I started using the 128.10.0esr (64-bit) version of Thunderbird.

Hello, Please Help! I turned on my laptop to check email this morning and tapped on my Thunderbird shortcut and it no longer worked. When I looked for the Icon on the desktop to open it, Thunderbird was gone. How do I recover it? I had 4 different email accounts on it. Lots of important saved information. Please advise, Lisa Lundgren

Hi,

I'm have a trouble where all of a sudden, Thunderbird stopped getting new messages, even when I click the 'Get New Messages' button. If I log into my Arvig webmail, I can see them, but Thunderbird isn't getting them. I can still send email, however.

I haven't changed any settings.

Thanks.

(1) Over the past year (maybe more?) folders move in Thunderbird seemingly by themselves. Which folders move is random. Then message filters don't work properly so the filter is unchecked until I move the folder back where it should be and reenable the filter. (2) Occasionally folders disappear completely, so I have to recreate and repopulate them. (3) Sometimes filters are disabled with no apparent cause. (4) More recently, Thunderbird filters can't find folders (though they appear to be in the correct place) so the filters also get disabled. Reenabling the filter doesn't help, and I have not found a workaround for this. Seems to be more and more frequent. (5) Yesterday whole folders were empty of messages that had been there the day before. One folder (on a W11) hasn't any messages for the last month, though on MacBooks the filter that feeds it is working OK.

I am not doing anything to cause this. I suspect it is a setting that either Mozilla or Comcast or Microsoft has changed. What can I do to stop this without having to switch to a different email system entirely?

Please bring back account switch behavior from K-9 6.904.

By this I mean that when I switch accounts, say from gmail to outlook, have this happen:

(a) hide/retract the left sidebar (b) display the inbox folder of the outlook account (regardless that I was previously viewing the outbox folder in gmail)

TB 9.0 does not do this. And it forces me to do both (a) + (b) each time. This is NOT an improvement in the UI.

Thanks!

A week ago Thunderbird stopped sending messages from gmail accounts. I have a few accounts on my Thunderbird, and all of them are running smoothly regarding downloading messages, so I can read all of them, but I can send new messages only from non-gmail accounts. To use gmail I have to log to the web service. I tried to remove and add again gmail account, but it didn't help. I have the newest and actual version of Thunderbird. I didn't install any new apps last week. The message is: Sending the message failed. The message sending failed because the connection to the outgoing mail server (SMTP) timed out. Please try again or contact your network administrator. Hope someone can help me :) Best, Iwona

Several months ago, I have noticed that several folders were missing in Thunderbird. These folders exist on Outlook as viewed with a browser. I could not force the addition of those folders. Sometimes, I could rename a folder and it would show content for some days before disappearing.

I am also having problems that a folder exists with not individual email account, but two subfolders have their full content. I cannot use Thunderbird to add content to a folder with empty content, except for the working subfolders. I have tried "Repair Folder" with no success. If "Foothill.msf" exists, it has zero or little content. I can generate new folders. I've been running Thunderbird for decades without a problem this severe.

        • Outlook via browser is now missing the Foothill folder, but one of the subfolders exists on Thunderbird.!

Hi,

I am using Thunderbird 128.10.2esr (64-bit).

In settings, composition I have the "use paragraph format" box unchecked.

When I compose an email, hitting Enter causes an extra line feed to be inserted. Thus I need to go back over lists, addresses and so forth to manually change back to body text. I would like to not have to do this.

Is there another setting that will allow composition entirely in body text style? I am also set to send in plain text only.

I use a photo posting site for some photography I do and used to be able to post a link to an image in an email and the recipient could click on the link and open the image. Recently the email is shown as being sent but the recipient does not receive it. As a test sent the same email to a gmail address I use on occasion and Thunderbird shows it as being sent but it does not show in my gmail inbox.

If I convert the URL to a "tiny URL tiny URL" it works fine.

Here is a link to the original URL of the photo on a site (pbase.com) that appears to have been sent as a link in and email, but its never received. If the URL is copied and pasted into browser it does open up:

https://a4.pbase.com/o12/24/696224/1/175455898.qduVpeTI.Kyle1_MG_3689.jpg

and the link converted to a tiny URL: https://tinyurl.com/36yyspdf

Any help would be appreciated :)

thanks, Mike....hope this makes sense

p.s.: FWIW its a photo used for some coastal tidal research

A few days ago I stopped getting my mail. I checked to see if the firewall was set to allow Thunderbird. It was. I tried changing account settings. I found out that if I changed Connection Security from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS there was no change. But, if I went to NONE my mail came through. Fine, but I don't want to go on without Security. Any suggestions?
